Essie In The Cab-ana with Dollish Polish Coitus

6 Jul

Hi guys! I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far, I’m really enjoying my four day weekend (I’m actually getting some stuff done!)!

I wanted to try another one of Dollish Polish Big Bang Theory shades and thought some glitter tips would be nice!

I used Essie In The Cab-Ana as my base color, and then applied and dabbed Coitus on the tips. Coitus has a pretty mix of hexes in pink, turquoise and gold in a clear base. The glitter coverage was pretty good, I haven’t tried it over my entire nails yet but it might be dense enough to wear on its own. I was a little impatient to let In The Cab-ana dry enough so the polish dragged off a bit at the tips.

Thanks for looking! :)

Essie Naughty Nautical Swatches

26 Jun

I was only planning to get a couple of Essie polishes from their Summer 2013 collection, but Cut & Blow had them on sale so I ended up buying the whole set (I have no self control at all but at least they were on sale :P)!!
In case you don’t know, Cut & Blow (this is a referral link) is a flash sale site kind of like HauteLook, but for hair and beauty products. This was my first time buying from them, I had no issues with the transaction and shipping was really fast.

Anyway, I swatched all six polishes so let’s see some pictures!

Rock The Boat

Pale blue with silver shimmer, the shimmer is more like tiny flakes. I needed two to three coats.

Full Steam Ahead

Lilac with the same silver flakie shimmer. Three thin coats.

This is such a fun shade! I love corals, and this one is no exception. It had the same shimmer but it didn’t seem as noticeable as in the lighter shades, I guess since the base is more opaque it buries the shimmer a bit. Three coats.

The Girls Are Out

Fuchsia pink with silver shimmer. Three coats.

This is the only creme in the collection, it applied easily in two coats. I don’t wear this color much and I wish it had the same shimmer as the rest, but I still liked it on me more than I thought I would.

Naughty Nautical

Teal with shimmer, this was more vibrant in person, my pictures make it look more muted than it is. Two coats.

All swatches are without top coat, they look pretty shiny on their own. They were dry to the touch within ten minutes. Formula was pretty much the same on all, easy to control, thick but not too runny.
I’m glad I got the whole collection because I ended up liking all the colors, I think they are perfect for summer!

Adventures in Stamping: French Manicure

23 Jun

Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Sunday, the weather is beautiful here and I’m going to lunch for my brother’s birthday so this will be a quick post.
I was thinking of doing a gradient background for my french tip stamping, and realized that I was already wearing a gradient so I just stamped over my current nails.

The background is a gradient with Essie Full Steam Ahead, Rock the Boat, and Naughty Nautical, and a layer of Rainbow Honey Mt. Moon, I’ll have more pictures of this on a future post. The french tip was done with Essie Nothing Else Metals and Konad plate m56, rarely use french tip stamps so my alignment still needs more practice.
I hope you like it, and thanks for looking! :)

Essie Come Here!, First Timer and In The Cab-ana Dots!

18 May

I got three polishes from the Essie Resort 2013 Collection, and since there are already plenty of swatches available I decided to wear all three of them in a polka dot look instead of just swatching them!

I used Come Here! on all nails, and then alternated the dots on each nail with In The Cab-ana and First Timer. Come Here! had a good formula and pigmentation, it looked good at one coat but I did two just out of habit.

I think my dots are definitely looking better than the first few times I tried making them, and several people asked to see my nails and said they were cute, which is always nice!
The only color I didn’t buy from the Resort collection is Under Where?, because I think I already have similar purple shades, but overall they are all fun springy colors.

Thanks for visiting! :)

31 DC – Your Favorite Polish

7 Apr

I thought choosing a favorite polish from three almost full Helmers would be hard, but when I looked through them I knew which ones to use. I ended up with two because they are both favorites, and one of them can’t be worn on its own anyway!

Lynnderella Bride of Franken over Essie Smooth Sailing

This is Lynnderella Bride of Franken over Essie Smooth Sailing. I love both of these polishes so much that I have backups of them! Smooth Sailing applies so well and it is opaque in one coat, I did two just out of habit though, it has a beautiful blue base color with silver shimmer. Bride of Franken has a mix of holographic micro glitter, iridescent and blue/purple hexes in a sheer purple base. I loved the combination so there is a few pictures!

So beautiful!! I didn’t want to add any nail art because I just like this layering the way it is.
Thanks for looking! :)
