Adventures in Stamping: Over a Lilac Base

5 May

Hi guys!! I decided to join in the Adventures in Stamping challenge today, here is my take of stamping over a lilac base!

OPI Planks a Lot stamped with China Glaze Galactic Gray

My lilac base is OPI Planks A Lot, and I just got Models Own Southern Lights which is full of light purple holographic glitter so I sponged the tips with it. Since it’s very sunny today, I used a holo for the stamping too, China Glaze Galactic Gray with an image from plate BM-314.

I’m very pleased with how this turned out, and it’s so sparkly in the sunlight! Holo definitely makes everything better! :D

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, I didn’t even change my polish this past week until today. Hopefully I can figure out my schedule to have more time for polish and blogging!

Thanks for looking!

31 DC – Inspired by a Game

23 Apr

It took me a while to decide on a game to use as inspiration for today’s nails. At first I was thinking about a video game, then I started thinking about board games, finally I thought about games I played as a kid (since I was also thinking about the inspired by your childhood challenge), and settled on Hopscotch.

I used Zoya Dove sponged with Kelly for the “ground”. I was going to use more pastel chalk-like colors, but then I remembered I got two Sephora by OPI Nail art pens in an exchange a while ago and thought it’d be easier to draw with them. I drew parts of the hopscotch layour on each nail and added two pieces of chalk on the pinky (not sure if it’s obvious that’s what they are though!).

31 DC – Inspired by Nature

21 Apr

It’s time for the inspiration part of the 31 Day Challenge, and usually I’m not very good at “inspired by” challenges, but I’ll still try to come up with something for the next few days!
Today it’s supposed to be inspired by nature, so I just did some trees which is what I’ve seeing out on my yard, trees with a few loose leaves.

I started with a white base and then sponged on Zoya Blu and Breezi for the sky and Shawn for the grass and leaves. I wanted to stamp some trees but couldn’t find a good stamp for it so I just had to freehand them with a nail art brush and OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys.

Sally Hansen Petal Pusher stamped with m2

20 Apr

Looking back through old posts the other day, I found the very first post I published, it was also the first stamping I did. To be honest, it was pretty awful! So I decided to recreate that first manicure to see if it turns out any better!

Here is that very first picture for reference, be warned though, it’s bad and my skin is so dry and cracked!

Bad, isn’t it?

Well, here is how it looks now!

Sally Hansen Petal Pusher

I’d say it’s an improvement in every way!
This was three coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Petal Pusher, and there is still a bit of visible nail line. I got lots of bubbles, and looking back now it bubbled before too so it might be an issue with this polish. I stamped a flower image from Konad plate m2 (this was the only plate I had at the time, now I have a binder full of them!), and Konad white polish. Then I added half pearls in the center of each flower and sealed everything with top coat.

I was a bit embarrassed to post the first picture, but I’m also very proud to see how much better my nails look now compared to before!

31 DC – Inspired by Fabric

16 Apr

Hi everyone! This is a design that’s been in my to do list for a while and the today’s challenge was just the perfect time to try it.

The fabric inspiration is actually a shirt that has this rainbow pattern and black animal print. I started with a white base and then applied the gradient with a sponge and the following colors: China Glaze Wicked Style, Color Club Pucci-licious, Finger Paints Carnation Creation, Maybelline Outloud Lime, and Sally Hansen Orange Impulse (which is not really visible).
The stamping was done with Konad black special polish and Konad plate m78.
I really love how it came out, although maybe I should have positioned the gradient so that green and orange showed up more!

And here is a few pictures with the shirt! As I was taking these pictures, the wind was really strong and it blew the shirt to my back yard so I had to go running after it, I’m pretty sure the neighbors think I’m totally crazy!

(Sorry about all the fuzz on the fabric, my kitty just leaves fur everywhere!)

I admit that part of the reason I bought this shirt is because I thought it would make some cool looking nails!
